Client Vancouver Convention Centre Expansion Project (A Division of BC Pavilion Corporation)
Industries Land Development
Services Geotechnical Engineering – soil and rock mechanics, soil rock and mining engineering

Assignment
The Vancouver Convention Centre expansion includes a new convention centre, viaduct, a harbour concourse linking to the existing convention centre, and a six-acre environmentally friendly “living roof”.

Our Role
Golder’s previous experience at the site benefited our client by enabling us to provide a cost-effective foundation design and fast track schedule that allowed the project to be completed on time. Built over land and water, the 106,000 m2 expansion to VCEC now attracts conventions of more than 5,000 delegates. The commitment to sustainability can be found in every corner: the “living roof,” seawater heating and cooling, on-site water treatment and even fish habitat built into the foundation.
