Assignment
From 1996 to 2008, Golder has been assisting various government clients with the remediation and management of residual contamination associated with a former gas manufacturing plant in inner urban Melbourne.
Our Role
Between 1996 and 1999, Golder assessed and managed the remediation of the gasometer and laboratory sites associated with the gasworks to allow redevelopment into a residential precinct. In 2004, Golder began assisting the local Council with the assessment and management of the former gas manufacturing site. The project involved the innovative management of groundwater and vapour issues in a community park and arts precinct. In 2008, Golder was awarded a further commission by a third client (Department of Education and Early Childhood Development) to provide remediation services for the Albert Park Secondary College which is located on the former storage depot of the gasworks site. Golder prepared a Remediation Action Plan and remedial design for onsite treatment of the contaminated soil and is proceeding to undertake further soil and groundwater investigations and management of the remediation to allow redevelopment of the school.
